FAQs

What are Early Intervention Services?

Early Intervention services help young children grow and develop, while providing guidance and support for families. Early Intervention services are offered through the North Carolina Infant Toddler Program, which offers a variety of services for children ages 0-3 with developmental delays or special needs. These services may include: speech, occupational and physical therapy; service coordination; assistive technology; specialized therapy (CBRS/play therapy); and community-based Rehabilitative Services.

Where are the services provided?

Early Intervention Services may be provided in the child’s natural environment, in a family's home, in a daycare center or at school.

Who is eligible for Early Intervention Services?

Early Intervention Services are provided for children ages 0-3 with developmental delays in cognitive, physical, behavioral , social-emotional and language skills. Eligibility is determined by the local Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) for the North Carolina Infant Toddler Program. For more information on your local CDSA, please visit the North Carolina Early Intervention website at www.beearly.nc.gov.
